Oddell Cannon, 16, has been identified as the suspect who fled the school following the 7:30 a.m. incident that sent the unidentified victim to Paoli Hospital with stab wounds to the neck, shoulder, armpit, and lower back, according to the Chester County District Attorney's Office.
The victim was later identified by family as 16-year-old Mickey Rayner Jr., 6abc reports. He was in stable condition as of Wednesday morning.
The victim wanted to fight Cannon because he believed he stole a vape cigarette cartridge from him, a witness apparently told investigators.
The two met inside a second-floor bathroom to fight, but a teacher came into the bathroom and dispersed the crowd, authorities said. That's reportedly when the teens moved to another bathroom and fought.
Another witness apparently told police that he saw the victim bleeding from an area near his neck, and heard the victim say, “Bro, he stabbed me.”
A large pool of blood was discovered in the bathroom, and police recovered a bloody knife, they said.
Cannon was also seen stabbing the victim multiple times in a video posted to social media, investigators said.
“Yesterday was a horrific day for school students and their families. Not long after Oddell Cannon violently stabbed a classmate at CASH, another young man wreaked horror on a school in Texas," DA Deb Ryan said.
"This must end. And it must end now. Parents should never have to worry when they send their children to school. Children should feel safe and protected while inside school walls."
Cannon was arraigned and remanded to the Chester County Juvenile Detention Center in lieu of $750,000 cash bail.
Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact Caln Police Det. Steven Parkinson at 610-383-1821.
